Terri Harper, MA, LMHC

Board Member

Terri fell into the world of Psychology quite by accident but also fell in love with it. After graduating from college, she started immediately working in community mental health in a drug-ridden, poverty-stricken area where she began to learn how to help those who were living a life that was unknown to her. She obtained her MA in Psychological Counseling and Terri has since worked in non-profit, community mental health in various settings from schools, outpatient clinics, residential substance abuse and community treatment.

Terri is drawn to helping others see their potential and how one can move forward through trauma and abuse, substance use and mental health issues. She believes in being genuine, authentic and transparent– which is why Intentional Heart spoke so much to her.

Drawn to Shannon’s passion and vision for Intentional Heart, she believes in the core message of learning how to be intentional and reconnecting with our hearts through mindfulness activities like yoga, music, artistic expression and being a part of nature. Terri’s experience in counseling can help guide the process of healing and moving through to new moments of peace.

Originally from coastal New Jersey, Terri now resides in Central Florida where she works and plays with her two legged and four legged family.

In everyone’s life, we have mountains to climb. Some we can manage easily, but some are higher than others. You may find yourself at the foot of a mountain right now, wondering if you have the strength to go it alone. You may be feeling lost, fearful and unsure. You may be wondering how anyone can understand what you are going through right now.  I’m here to tell you that whatever mountain you’re about to climb, I’m certain we can make it over together.

In the past 14 years, I’ve assisted couples increase communication & work through their issues to help heal their relationship. I’ve provided the safety, trust and support that it takes to work through and manage trauma. I have assisted children/teens increase self-esteem, cope with emotions & stress, and manage behavioral & emotional issues.  I have assisted parents of children/teens to learn communication skills and tools to manage behavioral issues. I have helped those struggling with substance abuse to identify their triggers and learn skills to prevent relapse. I’ve provided support to those experiencing grief/loss and assisted with processing the complex emotions that impact the grieving person.

In every counseling relationship, I am committed to providing a safe, welcoming and peaceful environment to walk with you through your journey.
